TAKEN BY MY iPHONE...

This was taken the morning of the tornado...I am NOT kidding...there was a tornado in Hawaii at 1 pm Wednesday and it was VERY CLOSE to me... it picked a golf cart up -although that could just have been the golfer's really good excuse for a Mulligan...I don't know.
Anyway I happened to be writing in my cockpit at the time so I missed it.
That's the lesson for today.
You can be busily writing while wonderful things are happening all around you-- that's not to say that a tornado is particularly a wonderful thing but it would have been cool to check it out -- instead I was "defragmenting" my manuscript.
Schucks...
I hope someone comes to get me when there's a Hurricane.
I'd really hate to miss that.

I'm glad the tornado missed you - but sorry you missed it! that darn writing... maybe you need to post Tooloose on deck as your watch cat!

gorgeous photo...

um, I've never lived on a boat... but, um, would someone really have to come and tell you if a hurricane was coming????

I'm getting queasy just thinking about the waves and a boat!

:)

glad the tornado didn't cause you problems.

LOL*

I THOUGHT a hurricane was moving into the bay when I stayed on Pat's boat, but it was just a regular old night moored to the dock. Go figure!

Hilarious! The roof could blow off my house when I’m writing and I wouldn’t notice either. I do so enjoy the drama of a storm. Good luck with your MS; I’ve been reworking mine too. There are so many ways to tell a story in these early drafts. Lovely photo – it warmed me up.

Pat, oops. I was in a silly mood when i posted my first comment. Overstating the obvious with the "clueless voice" in my head. Maybe it didn't translate.

Holly, i understand. I can get motion sick in a row boat... i don't know what i'd do on a boat in real water!

Oh Dawn I was laughing as I wrote that!!! NO worries!!

I missed a bear running through my town, and also a couple of elephants that got loose from a traveling circus.

We had tornadoes near us, but not right beside us except for a wind shear that took a couple of trees down at the end of my street.

I have dreams about tornadoes. I sit glued to the television whenever there is a tornado program. In another life, I'd be a storm chaser, definitely.

I'm glad the tornado did not pay you a visit. Would not like to have read about world famous author found in top of palm tree.
I am not looking forward to meeting any myself, did not realize when we moved here just how many they have.

Beautiful! The photo, I mean.

I've seen a lot of tornadoes, since I grew up in Oklahoma. The one I regretted missing was the one that got everyone out of studying in the English class, next door, during high school. We were on the 3rd floor, but they were on the good side. We didn't see a thing from journalism class. Unfair.

Pat, you just need to have someone install a tornado siren near your boat. In Oklahoma, we know that the siren sounding means it's time to go outside and look for the tornado--that's how we keep from missing them!

We actually had to take cover a couple weeks ago--after checking the skies of course. Golf-ball size hail seemed a good enough reason. Discovered that self, daughter, grandchild and laptop cannot all fit in the closet at once. Guess one of the kids is going to have to ride it out in the laundry room with the dogs next time.

Now, go get that siren!

Everywhere I've lived there have been tornadoes, including a few in California and Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Most were small, as in ripping a square yard or two off a roof. A pretty big one tore up Salt Lake City near where I used to live, though. (Thank goodness I'd lived there about 20 years previously.)
